Adolf Hitler arrives for a visit in Memel. To his right is the leader of the Memel Germans Neumann. The Memel territory was East Prussian before the First World War and had to be ceded to the Allies without a popular vote according to the provisions of the Versailles Treaty of 1919. Therefore, it was under French administration from 16.02.1920. According to the Convention on the Memel land from 08.05.1924, Lithuania had received the sovereignty over the territory.
