Aerial view of the city on the three rivers Passau, aroun
This undated aerial photograph was taken around 1935 above the Klosterberg (with the Salvatorian College) and shows the city of Passau at the confluence of the three rivers Danube, Inn and Ilz. After flowing past the church of St. Salvator and the town of Ilz (foreground), the black Ilz meets the waters of the blue Danube at Veste Niederhaus (centre of the picture). On the right is the Veste Oberhaus on the Georgsberg. The towers of the monastery church of Niedernburg, St. Michael, the town hall, the cathedral and St. Paul stand out from Passau's old town (from front to back). The Danube is spanned by Luitpoldbrucke and Maxbrucke, the Inn by Marienbrucke, Funferlsteg and Kaiserin-Elisabeth-Brucke. Numerous ships are anchored at the Danube harbour
