Afternoon rest during the Salt March, 1930

Afternoon rest in the camp of Mahatma Gandhi during the Salt March'. In the foreground is Dr. Haridas T. Muzumdar, the author of the book Gandhi and India'. Gandhi initiated the March on the Sea as a protest against the British salt monopoly. The photo was taken during Munich-based journalist Walter Bosshard's trip through India, which he made under contract for the Munich Illustrated Newspaper in 1930
