Airship Schuette-Lanz SL 1 before landing, 1912
After the Zeppelin crash in Echterdingen in 1908 the airship designers Dr. Schuette and Dr. Lanz began the development of a new streamlined airship type. The semi-rigid airship from Schuette-Lanz (type S.L.I.') initially was only a balloon made dirigible by a motor and a wheel with stiffened keel. On 28.02.1914 the second Schuette-Lanz airship took its first flight. The S.L.II. during the landing approach
