The Albanian King Zog I - previously Ahmed Zog - married the Hungarian Countess Geraldine Apponyi on April 27, 1938. He was initially Prime Minister from 1923 to 1924, then he was President from 1925 until 1928 and on September 1, 1928 he proclaimed himself king. In 1939 he fled abroad from the Italian occupying forces. In 1946 he was formally dethroned
