Soldiers of the 157th Infantry Regiment of the US Army are targeting SS men, who are lined up along a wall. According to the original caption, the SS men lying on the ground try to pretend to be dead after the Americans opened fire on a fleeing guard. In a spontaneous revenge action between 39 and 50 guards were shot and this photo shows probably the moment before the execution
