Annexation of Fiume by Italy, 1924
By the Treaty of Rome between the Kingdom of Italy and the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes on 27 January 1924, the Free State of Fiume was dissolved and the city of Fiume (now Rijeka in Croatia) was annexed to Italy. The picture shows the King of Italy, Victor Emmanuel III, being handed the keys of the city by the new Italian mayor
