Auction at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, 1929

A crowd of people pushes into the ballroom of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel for the auction of furnishings. The famous hotel at the intersection of 5th Avenue and 33rd Street was torn down in 1929, in order to make space for the Empire State Building. It was re-opened in 1931 on Park Avenue
