: Badge of the German cruiser Emden

Badge of the German cruiser Emden

The German cruiser Emden was after a successful war effort so badly damaged by the Australian cruiser Sydney at the Cocos Islands, that the commander, Captain Karl von Mueller, put it on base. As a gesture of friendship, the Australian government gave back the name tag of the Emden to the German government in early 1933
