Balilla boys as sentries in front of the Palazzo Venezia
Sunday 29 October 1939 marked the second anniversary of the founding of the Gioventu Italiana del Littorio (GIL). The Balilla was also subordinated to the umbrella organization. The picture shows a group of Balilla boys standing guard at the entrance of Palazzo Venezia in Piazza Venezia, Rome, on the day of celebration. A large crowd watches them perform their ceremonial. Two Italian soldiers stand next to the boys. In the background you can see the Palazzo Bonaparte
