Mussolini gave the order to reforest the deserted Monte Mario in Rome in 1934. In the picture, boys of the fascist youth organization Opera Nazionale Balilla march along a dirt road to Monte Mario. Armed with shovels, they were to symbolically plant the first trees for the large reforestation project on the mountain
