Battle on the Lechfeld, 955
St. Ulrich, Bishop of Augsburg, leads his followers against the Hungarians in the Battle of Lechfeld in 955 as a prince of the Empire. King Otto the Great ordered his followers to kill the fleeing Hungarians. Otto thanks Ulrich by granting him the right to mint and issue coins in Augsburg. Ulrich was venerated as a saint very soon after his death
