Battle on the Marchfeld, 1278

The Battle of Duernkrut and Jedenspeigen between Rudolf von Habsburg and Ottokar II, also known as Battle on the Marchfeld, was fought for the inheritance of the House of Babenberg. It is one of the biggest knights battle of Europe. Rudolf of Hapsburg came out victoriously from the war and thus founded the Hapsburg monarchy.
