The Emperor and the Pope entrusted the Teutonic Order with the subjugation and Christianization of the Prussians. The Pruzets or Prussians were a Baltic tribe. Until 1283 they subjected Prussia, after initial setbacks. The painting shows one of the first castles from the early period in the north
