The Italian state guest Benito Mussolini and Adolf Hitler in the so-called Fuehrerbau in Munich. Since 1936, the national socialist Germany and the Fascist Italy maintain in the so-called Axis Berlin-Rome an intensive cooperation. Through the so-called Pact of Steel (Italian: Patto d'acciaio) of 1939, this cooperation became the formal alliance between the two countries. With the so-called Tripartite Pact of 27.09.1940, this alliance should be expanded to the Berlin-Rome-Tokyo
