The Blitzen-Benz of 1909
The Benz 200 PS, called Blitzen-Benz or Lightning Benz, was the fastest pre-war car with a speed of 228 km/h. It was built in 1909 and set the record in 1911. The picture shows driver Barney Oldfield, who set a first record in Daytona in 1910. The Benz had its gear lever outside the bodywork
