Bomb damage in Koenigsberg, Prussia, WW2

Koenigsberg, Prussia, which was largely spared until autumn 1944 when the Red Army was able to push its offensive to Goldap, was massively attacked form the air and was severely hit. The photo shows the Death city at the old Fischmarkt (fish market), after the fires were put out, photographed from the old university. In the background one can still recognize the castle tower which has retained its stone framework
