A bride from the Black Forest wears a festive folk costume and Schaeppel (bridal crown) for her wedding. Next to her sits the yard dog. The Schaeppel weighs about 3-5 kilos. It consists of about 10 rows of layered colorful glass ornaments, glass beads and glass balls in different colors, between which small mirrors and other shiny ornaments are inserted and which is also worn at festivities. The bride wears the Schaeppel from early morning when going to church until the wedding dinner in the evening. The photo was probably taken in the 1930s
