Bridesmaid and bride in the Black Forest, around 1930

The bridesmaid (left) is holding the bride's (right) hand. She wears a Schaeppel (bridal crown) which weighs about 3-5 kilos. It consists of about 10 rows of layered colorful glass ornaments, glass beads and glass balls in different colors, between which small mirrors and other shiny ornaments are inserted and which is also worn at festivities. The bride wears the Schaeppel from early morning when going to church until the wedding dinner in the evening
