Cabinet order from King Friedrich Wilhelm III of Prussia
Cabinet order by King Friedrich Wilhelm III of Prussia from September 3, 1814 in which universal conscription in Prussia is introduced. The signature of the King is visible in the preamble and the first article as well as in important paragraphs and the conclusion, and at the very end the name of the Prussian State Ministry appears. As mentioned in the introduction to the document, this law owes it formation to the popular uprising in 1812/13 in which every Prussian hurried to the flag to help release their fatherland from foreign intruders. This freedom, it continues, which the people gained by arming themselves in the war, could only be preserved if all men capable of fighting are constantly prepared for military service
