The Capitol in Washington was built according to the plans of William Thornton from 1793 until 1824. The dome was completed in 1850. The Capitol is the seat of Congress, which is made up of the Senate and House of Representatives and holds the federal legislative power. On the left is one of the Senate administrative buidlings, in the background in the middle is the Supreme Court
