Carl Friedrich Benz

Carl Friedrich Benz (1844-1929), engineer and automobile pioneer. He founded Benz and Cie. Rheinische Gasmotorenfabrik (Daimler-Benz AG) in 1883 and in 1885 he built (independently of Daimler) a single-cylinder four-stroke gasoline engine as a drive for a three-wheeled cart (demonstration in 1886) and thus laid the foundations of the automobile
