Carl Friedrich Goerdeler during a speech in the House of Doctors in Lindenstrasse, Berlin, on 12 April 1935, where he spoke before the Business Community of Doctors about the economic situation in Germany. The Lord Mayor of Leipzig, Goerdeler was from 1931 until 1935 Reich Commissioner for price control and was considered a specialist in difficult management issues. He withdrew between 1935 and 1937 from all government offices and went into opposition
