Charlotte Buff
Charlotte Buff (1753-1828), friend of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. She is believed to be the model for Lotte in his novel, The Sorrows of Young Werther'. In 1753 she married Johann Christian Kestner. Her reunion with Goethe in 1816 was treated by Thomas Mann in his novel Lotte in Weimar
