Coal takeover aboard a German warship, 1902
The photo was taken in 1902 during the great German fleet manoeuvres in the Bay of Gdansk and shows the coal takeover on board a large cruiser of the German High Seas Fleet. Since the boilers of all warships were heated with coal at that time, coal supply was one of the most important parts in the strategic operations of all fleets
