The Conference of Casablanca, 1943
Representatives of the anti-Hitler coalition gathered for a secret meeting in the Moroccan city of Casablanca, between 14 and 24 January. Sitting on the couch from the left: The Sultan of Morocco, the American President Franklin D. Roosevelt, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, standing behind: Major General George Patten, the diplomatic mission of General Eisenhower, Robert Murphy, Harry Hopkins, the heir to the Moroccan Sultan, General Nogues and two ministers of the Sultan. Joseph Stalin stayed away from the conference because he could not leave the Soviet Union in view of the military situation. The participants demanded in the press the unconditional surrender of Germany, Japan and Italy. They also decide to boost air strikes on Germany
