The Conference of Casablanca, 1943
Representatives of the anti-Hitler coalition gathered for a secret meeting in the Moroccan city of Casablanca, between 14 and 24 January. From left, President Roosevelt and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and standing Major-General Sir Hastings Ismay and Lord Louis Mountbatten. Joseph Stalin stayed away from the conference because he could not leave the Soviet Union in view of the military situation. The participants demanded in the press the unconditional surrender of Germany, Japan and Italy. They also decide to boost air strikes on Germany
