Counting of the referendum in Upper Silesia, 1921
Helpers at the evaluation of the referendum in Upper Silesia. In accordance with the mandate of the article 88 of the Treaty of Versailles on 20 March 1921 took place a plebiscite on the national affiliation of the area of the German province of Upper Silesia, which was subordinated to the League of Nations after the First World War. The voting yielded a favorable result for Germany: almost 60 percent of the population voted to remain part of the German Reich and against the annexation to the Republic of Poland
