The Apologia Confessionae Augustanae is the pleading of the Confessio Augustana against the arguments of the Catholics, which were created in the Confutatio Agustana. It was published by Philipp Melanchthon, with Martin Luther making a decisive contribution to it, and it was declared a confessional document of the Protestants in 1537
