The picture shows an anchor manoeuvre of the research vessel Meteor'. With the anchor winch the anchor is lowered and then secured. The Meteor was rebuilt and put into service as a research and surveying vessel in 1924. Numerous research trips followed in the Atlantic until the ship was converted in 1940 and used as a tender and command ship during the Second World War.
