Crew at work aboard the Meteor
The picture shows how one of the survey boats is brought on board. These were used for surveying in places with a lower depth. The Meteor was rebuilt and put into service as a research and surveying vessel in 1924. Numerous research trips followed in the Atlantic until the ship was converted in 1940 and used as a tender and command ship during the Second World War.
