The picture shows how parts of the crew scrub the deck, in the background the boatman supervises their work. The Meteor was rebuilt and put into service as a research and surveying vessel in 1924. Numerous research trips followed in the Atlantic until the ship was converted in 1940 and used as a tender and command ship during the Second World War.
