Czech border post on the German-Czech border, 1919
A Czech border guard in the uniform of the Czechoslovak Legion keeps guard before a frontier house on the Czech-German border. The Habsburg remaining southern part of Upper Silesia (regions around Opava, the Duchy of Krnov, Cieszyn, Bielsko and a part of the Duchy of Nysa) formed until 1918 the Kronland (crown land) of Austrian Silesia, which after the First World War in the Treaty of Saint-Germain-en-Laye (1919 ) was ceded mainly to Czechoslovakia
