The airship N3 was damaged by a severe storm. It was Japan's only airship and a sister ship of the airship Norge, with which the Norwegian polar explorer Roald Amundsen, the American polar pilot Lincoln Ellsworth and the Italian military engineer Umberto Nobile flew over the north pole in 1926
