The Damascus gate in Jerusalem, 1928

The Damascus gate is the main gateway to the Muslim quarter of Jerusalem. Its small entry with the wooden bridge was replaced by an amphitheater fore court and a massive stone bridge. The gate faces north, in the direction of Nablus and further to Damascus in Syria
