Demonstration in front of the French Embassy in Rome, 1935

Hundreds of Romans and many Italian fascists gathered in front of the French embassy (right) in Rome's Piazza Farnese in 1935. The demonstrators wanted an extension of Italy's alliance with France, which dated back to the time of the First World War. In addition, France was to influence the League of Nations in favour of fascist Italy (despite the latter's expansionist policy)
