: The department store Tietz Berlin

The department store Tietz Berlin

Interior of the department store Tietz on Doenhoff Square in Berlin. The models of this department store were major department stores in Paris. At the time of National Socialism, the name Hertie was formed from the first letters of the first and last name of Hermann Tietz, because the Jewish name was not to be used further. In addition, the Aryanization has led to the appointment of Georg Karg as Managing Director, who completed the sale of the department store chain. Hertie was taken over by Karstadt in 1994
