Design of a state emblem of Turkey, 1925

In 1925 the Ministry of Education (Maarif Vekaleti) launched a competition for the design of a national emblem. The winner was the design of Namk Smail. This coat of arms was never approved and thus remained unofficial. You can see the state symbols as in today's emblem. Among them is the gray wolf (Bozkurt), one of the symbols of the Turkic people
