The destroyed Koenigsberg, 1944
The hitherto largely escaped Koenigsberg was massively attacked from the air and hit hard in the fall of 1944, when the Red Army could perform its offensive towards Goldap. Here you can see the remains of the old university on the Cominsel, where once learned Immanuel Kant. In background the burnt out Cathedral
