Destruction of the Irmin pillar, Irminsul or Erminsul, on the Eresburg on the Diemel, a sacred Saxon monument during the first Saxon Wars. Charles the Great ordered to the destruction to force the introduction of Christianity. This engraving comes from Paris around 1780 from the workshop of Jacques-Philippe Le Bas. As a template was used a drawing by Jean-Michel Moreau, also called Moreau le Jeune
