Distributing weapons after the swearing in, 1945
A 1st Lieutenant of the Armed Forces hands out K-98k carbines to fresh recruits. According to a decree of the commander-in-chief of the army, at this point Heinrich Himmler, the swearing in had to occur in the presence of an authority from the Nazi Party and in a form that expressed the common struggle of the front and the homeland. This is why the officer takes the weapon from the arms of a munitions worker (left)
