Dornier Whale seaplane at La Coruna, 1934

Between 1930 and 1933 Lufthansa tested the possibility of using the Dornier Whale seaplane for airmail service over water and made numerous test flights for this purpose. On this photo the seaplane Bremerhaven is making a test flight. Here it is floating on the way from Travemuende to Spain at La Coruna, one of the 4 stages of the 4, 500 km long route
