In 1936 streamlined steam trains were introduced on the Luebeck-Buechener railway for rapid transit between Hamburg and Luebeck, as well as for the excursion traffic to Travemuende. The cars of these trains had two levels. On the 46 meter stretch they could carry about 300 passengers without using a locomotive
