This drawing from the Cranach school shows the most important teachings of Luther after the publication of Martin Luther's major works Appeal to the German People, On the Babylonian Captivity of the Church and On the Freedom of a Christian'. Luther preaches from his pulpit, the opened Bible lies before him. He condemns the pope, the cardinals and bishops, and the ignorant monks, who are portrayed here according to medieval ideas on the right. Among the recipients of the Communion there are also princes who were Luther's secular support (left)
