Portrait of the couple von Orleans. Archduchess Maria Dorothea Amalie of Austria was a member of the Hungarian line of the House of Habsburg-Lorraine and was the great-granddaughter of Leopold II of Austria. In 1896 she married her second cousin from the House of Orleans, Duke Louis Philippe Robert d'Orleans, the pretender to the French throne. The marriage went childless and the couple separated in 1914
