Dummy of a field gun for training purposes

Soldiers of the German Reichswehr before a dummy gun. The Treaty of Versailles forbade Germany the possession of heavy artillery, therefore wooden dummies were used for the training of the troops. The image has been published by the Nazi press during the reintroduction of conscription in order to illustrate the contrast to the regained military sovereignty. Date created: 01.01.1921-31.12.1935
