Emperor Frederick II entrusted the mayor of

The Golden Bull of Rimini issued in 1226 (but probably only in the mid-30s) by Emperor Frederick II entrusted the Grand Master of the Teutonic Order, Hermann von Salza, with the subjugation and conversion of the Prussians. The Prussians were a Baltic tribe. On this painting by the German historian Peter Jansen, who belonged to the Duesseldorf school, the Emperor takes leave of the retreating knights
