The Austrian emperor Karl I (3rd fr left) greets newly arrived German auxiliary troops. German riflemen and storm troops were transfered from the Western Front to the Isonzo front to support the Austro-Hungarian lines, which had began to falter after the Italians major offensive in May 1917 (tenth battle at the Isonzo). 01.05.1917-31.12.1917
