Franziska Braun with her daughters Ilse, Margarete Gretl and Eva. Ilse was skeptical of National Socialism, Gretl married SS officer Hermann Fegelein, who served as the SS liaison officer to the Fuhrer's headquarters. Since Hitler kept his liaison with Eva Braun largely secret, the connection through her brother-in-law was the apparent explanation for her presence in Hitler's inner circle to outsiders
