Examinations for the national competition of culture
In Italy, there were annual national competitions such as the Littoriali della Cultura e dell'Arte, in which young people, male and female students could participate. The picture shows young men and women writing a written exam on culture in a building on the Foro Mussolini (today Foro Italico) in Rome on April 24, 1938. The winners of these regional exams (called gare nazionali degli Agonali della Cultura) then took part in the national finals. The final round took place in Palermo in 1938
